Design
The GRANAT portable radiation monitor is designed as a portable dust and water resistant sealed plastic case housing gamma and neutron detecting units, electronic units, embedded GPS-module, battery and internal control panel that provides access to all functions of the monitor when the case is open.
Near the handle on the outer side of the case there is a small-size control and indication panel that makes it possible to control basic features of the monitor without opening the case.
The internal parts of the monitor are mounted in such a way that prevents direct contact with the outer case, which ensures enhanced external mechanical impact resistance.
Access to the inner controls of the monitor can be restricted by a combination padlock included in the complete set.
The monitor is equipped with gamma and neutron alarm devices (gamma and neutron alarms are differentiated with indicators of different colors).

When the case is open, the operator has access to all functions of the monitor using the user’s interface that includes five buttons and graphic display on the internal panel. The display shows results of the search and measurements of the dose rate in graphic and numeric format, as well as results of identification as a list of detected radionuclides.
Besides all functions available in the online mode, the following functions become available in the expert mode:
- Setting of the measurement parameters
- Viewing of the identification results
- Processing of spectra and working with the radionuclide library
- Data exchange with a PC
